Greetings everyone. I would like to introduce myself as the new President of Shugart Fence Inc. My name is Rylan Shugart. Son of Woody Shugart. I have been involved with the family business since I was 15 years old, and have been building fences for 7 years. As many of you know my father previously retired, as of now he’s serving as an advisor and mentor to me. I am grateful for the opportunity to run our family business that myself, father, and brother have established in the beautiful city of St. Augustine. Custom Wood Works
Custom wood panel fencing is commonly used as a decorative means of providing privacy for homes in neighborhood settings. It’s also a good choice for setting boundaries for small children and pets. The panels are available with either dog-eared or pointed pickets. Paint or stain your fence to match your landscape or keep them natural. Composite fencing is an alternative to wood. It’s made from recycled wood and plastic and offers lower maintenance with the look of real wood.
Chain Link
Chain-link fencing (sometimes called hurricane fencing) is an economical way to enclose an area. Chain link is good for keeping pets in or other creatures out. It is made from galvanized steel wire. It is a woven type of fencing that is created by weaving coated, inter-locking steel wires together. The wires are bent in a zig-zag fashion that is designed to give a vertical diamond pattern. If you don’t like the bare fence, it’s available with a weather-resistant vinyl coating. Prefabricated gates are also available.
Aluminum
Decorative metal fencing offers the appearance of wrought iron, yet is made from powder-coated steel or aluminum. Due to the metal’s low density and ability to resist corrosion, it has become a popular choice as lightweight, durable fence and railing structure. It is available in a variety of styles and sizes. Unlike other metals, and also wood, they don’t need any special paint or treatment to maintain. In fact, an aluminum fence is so good that adding one to your property will increase the property value.
PVC/Vinyl
Vinyl fencing is an attractive, relatively maintenance-free type of fencing. It’s available in forms similar to both wood panel and rail fencing. Vinyl fencing isn’t subject to rot, fading or other effects of weather and time as wood fencing. Vinyl is a good choice for an attractive, easily maintained fence system. The PVC resin is combined with special ingredients that give vinyl fence exceptional impact strength, durability and weatherability. Vinyl is an easy-care alternative to other fence materials.
Field Fence
Field fencing (sometimes called farm fencing) is made of heavier gauge galvanized welded wire and barbed wire. It’s primarily used for feedlots, pens, corrals or pastures for larger animals. Field fence has many weaving types, such as fixed knot fence and hinge joint fence. They’re also highly versatile and can be electrified or fitted with barbed wire as needed. A single strand of barbed wire is often used as a top strand to keep livestock from leaning on the woven wire fence and keeps pests and predators out.

Palisade fencing is a high-level security option for businesses looking for a strong barrier against vandalism and thieves. Custom fabricated from sections of hot and cold rolled steel, you can have either D or W profiles (W profiles are the most secure) A chain-link fence is a popular option for industrial control access gates, as it offers maximum protection and is durable.

What can I do if my block isn’t square and flat?
These days in most industrial estates, the blocks are uniform, and this isn’t an issue. But that isn’t always the case. If your block isn’t square, then your fence will need some modifications, and these are best worked out in consultation with a professional fencing supplier. Shugart Fencing Inc. is availalble to consult on your behalf to the supplier. There are many fencing options available that can be used on sloping or steep ground or to address irregularities in your boundary. Your fencing contractor will be able to advise on the best solution for your premises that doesn’t compromise security or the professional appearance of your business.
Can I get my new fence easily repaired?
That depends on the type of fence that you choose to install. But if the ability to do easy and inexpensive fence repairs is an important consideration for you, there are plenty of fence options that will meet these criteria. Just make sure that you include it as part of your initial brief to Rylan.
How long can I expect my new fence to last?
That depends on the type of materials you choose to construct your fence in. However, there are many fencing materials these days including steel and PVC fencing where the fence can be expected to last for 20 years or longer.
Can my fencing contractor also install gates and security systems?
YES! Most fencing contractors will also install gates to go along with your fence because they’re providing a complete fencing solution. With commercial premises, security is important and if you require a security intercom to be connected to the fence, this can be arranged as part of your fence installation. Simply ask Rylan about it and he will collaborate with you on the best solution for your budget.
Do I need to get my neighbour’s agreement to install my fence?
This can vary from state to state, but generally, you should advise your neighbour if you’re installing a new fence, particularly if it runs down their boundary. And if your new fence is replacing the existing fence, then you must discuss it with your neighbour to reach an agreement on what the new fence will be like and who should pay for it. Once again, Shugart Fence Inc. will be happy to consult with both client and neighbor to ensure a win/win for them.
